Last night we asked if anyone knows why we post articles to the (Facebook) page. The responses were accurate but tell half the story.
We feel it's important to know what's going on in our community. Sometimes we post things that are PSA's (public service announcements), warnings of scams, to keep you informed of what's happened or what's heading your way. We also post the occasional item outside our demographic to illustrate how far reaching some decisions are or could be. After all, we do not live in a vacuum! But the biggest reason we post some articles is because they are not accessible to everyone at their source.
We feel very strongly that people have a right to know what's going on. And if you don't personally subscribe to news media in any and all it's formats, you likely are missing many of these articles and the ability to comment on them.
Commenting openly is important to us and is one of our goals for everyone. We don't post the safe stories, although we have on occasion included the 'feel good' piece, generally we add things that will really get you involved or fired up for change. We want you to speak up! Comments are not censored - sometimes we're told they should be, but they never are. Whether your opinion is based on fact, fiction, reality or delusions, right or wrong, is not for us to decide. When posting publicly in a forum such as this, we expect some heated exchange, funny remarks, sad revelations and hope people exercise common sense and compassion when interacting with others; It's a good rule of thumb here and everywhere else.
The world can be a hard place to navigate. Let's keep WBN a place where kindness goes hand in hand with progress and growth, on a personal level as well as a community.
